Whether it’s a big birthday bash or a smaller family gathering, one thing that hasn’t changed is our love for cake. Sharing your stunning cake tables with your friends and family is one thing, but we have the top tips to make your party one to remember.
- Size it up: with restrictions changing so often, you may have to opt for a smaller celebration, with a smaller-sized cake (or not – we’re not judging!) But when it comes to making it look as good as it tastes, size doesn’t matter! Present a small cake on an oversized platter for minimalist glam.
If you want to go for more of a statement, using flowers and fruits to complement the cake is a winning move. Go for contrasting colours to make the cake stand out – we love the look of a chocolate cake surrounded by juicy red berries. You can never go wrong with chocolate and strawberries!
2. Layer it up: make a statement with tiers all around. Arrange cake stands of varying heights around the table to display the cake, and the rest of your refreshments. Scatter decorative candles and flowers around the table for texture. Finally, crown your cake with fun toppers and themed candles (see our range here) to complete the look.
3. Dream theme: there’s no better time to go all out! Whatever the occasion, commit to your theme by bringing in all the extras. Print out or buy banners that match your chosen theme, and get themed tableware and confetti to tie it all together.
If there isn’t a specific occasion (you never need an excuse for cake!), colours make a great design concept. Take inspiration from your centrepiece – the cake – and follow through with complementing or contrasting colours, from the flowers to the napkins and even the tablecloth.
4. Frame it: now that you’ve got everything in place for your picture-perfect cake table, it’s time to get that one-in-a-million shot! Whether it’s an iPhone or an Android, it has everything you need to take professional-looking photos. Make sure you experiment with angles and lighting, to figure out what makes your table look the best. Zoom, crop, add a filter, use portrait mode – you’ve got this!
Now that you’ve got that perfect Insta post, sit back, cut yourself a generous slice of cake and watch the ‘likes’ roll in!
